18/06/23 On our second visit to Düsseldorf the cargo container was waiting for us with, according to our plans, already finished installed toilet door, kitchen & toilet window and toilet hatch ways for access to urin and feces barrels. Bernd our incredible craftsmen and metal worker did a flawless welding and metal job. The door, windows, hatches and metal framing are all reused old building elements from the storage of the commercial courtyard.
Getting an idea of the future container interiour, we started trying out the placement and functioning of the toilet, via its feces and urin barrels. After being able to organize local top soil from a nearby permaculture plantation, run by Sebo, we were able to start setting up the raised bed garden on the south side of the container. We were happy to upcycle in the courtyard stored metal bins from the formerly on site existing communal bakery. These were genereously supplied by the current owner, Kristina, a local architect, with office on-site, who was also responsible for processing our building permit. After placing the fixed and rebuilt raised bed bins, according to our permaculture zoning schemewe, we started planting the garden with our local on-site residents and Weltkunstzimmer team, Taka, Wolfgang, Stephanie and Sebo and his kids.
